blog post #1

1. He (Peter F.Martin) says in his piece "Destroyed" most athletes now a days are taking "juice" and therefore cheating, but they are not cheating in their sport, if not cheating them selves and suffering the consequences.( The Bedford Reader, 580)

2.Peter F. Martin says that steroids are the true threats to sports and their players, they challenge the ideals and their audiences aren't to happy about it.(The Bedford Reader, 582)

3.one of my favorite quotes from Destroyed was:

"Zeus,  one can imagine, was no fan of artificial enhancers. He liked his athletes natural,                       apparently so much that even clothing was off-limits" (The Bedford Reader 581)

  1. Hi Salal:
With the summary, you want to first determine what the author is trying to convey in their piece by finding their main idea. Then, determine the author's key points that support the main idea. The summary should be completely in your own words, no words from the article directly.

In paraphrasing, you can just refere to the author by last name, Martin, and be a bit more specific. What ideals are they challenging? How does Martin feel it is a true threat to sports? Then, you need a parenthetical citation at the end of the paraphrase, which is similiar to what you have but not quite. It would be: (Martin 582).

Last, why did you choose the quote as your focus? Do you agree or disagree with the quote? This needs to be elaborated on a bit more.

Review MLA citations, including both parenthetical (in-text) and you did not leave a reference citation, either. I would recommend reviewing this link, the sidebar discussions, and the sample paper for future assignments and papers: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/
